NCAA wrestling award standings debut for the 2024 season

INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA has released updated standings for the 2024 NCAA Wrestling Awards that will be awarded in March at the respective Division I, II and III Wrestling Championships.

The inaugural NCAA Wrestling Awards were presented at the 2012 wrestling championships. The three awards, given in each division, honor the Most Dominant Wrestler as well as the student-athletes that have accumulated the most falls and the most technical falls throughout the course of the regular and postseasons.

For falls and tech falls to be counted for the awards they must come against opponents in the same division (i.e. Division II vs. Division II). Ties in the two categories are broken based on the aggregate time.

Indiana's 197-pounder Gabe Sollars currently paces Division I with 11 falls on the season. There is a three-way tie behind him with nine falls each for Wyatt Hendrickson of Air Force, Ryder Rogotzke of Ohio State and Ty Watters of West Virginia.

In Division II, UNC Pembroke's Scott Joll leads the way with nine. It's a close race as four wrestlers trail him by one, led by Upper Iowa's 149-pounder Ethen Doty.

Jake Jones of Ithaca leads Division III with 15 falls for the 184-pound weight class.  Case Western Reserve's Mitchell Arch leads a five-way tie of wrestlers with 14 falls.

In Division I tech falls Lehigh's 197-pounder Michael Beard leads the way with ten. Ohio State's Nick Feldman and Lock Haven's Wyatt Henson are trailing him by one.

Shane Corrigan of Wisconsin-Parkside is pacing Division II with ten tech falls on the season in the 125-pound weight class. Chadron State's Torry Early and Lander's David Hunsberger have recorded nine.

In Division III, Stevens Tech's 133-pounder Luke Hoerle has secured 13 tech falls.  Alvernia's Gavin Hollingsworth trails by just one.

The initial Most Dominant Wrestler standings will be released later this season to allow wrestlers to achieve the minimum number of matches required to be eligible for the standings.
