Siena Heights Tabs Patrick Durocher as Interim Women's Wrestling Coach

ADRIAN, Mich. -- Siena Heights athletic director Sue Syljebeck has announced the hire of Patrick Durocher as interim head coach of the Saints' women's wrestling program.

Durocher moves into the interim spot after working alongside former SHU coach Whitney Cox during the 2023-24 season. Durocher was named Mid-South Conference Assistant Coach of the Year.

"I'm excited that Patrick will be guiding our women's wrestling program this year," Syljebeck said. "With our roster and staff, we are set up for success."

Durocher is a Canton, Mich. native, having graduated from Canton High School and Eastern Michigan University. He received a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from EMU.

Prior to joining the SHU women's wrestling staff, Durocher was a math and science teacher at West Middle School in Plymouth. He was also the head coach of Plymouth High School's varsity wrestling program from 2018 until 2023, and was an assistant coach for 5 years prior to that.

Durocher is also a registered coach through USA Wrestling.

"I'm excited to be staying in the program with my new role as Interim Head Coach," he said. "It's always been a dream of mine to be a head coach of women's wrestling at the collegiate level and provide women with more opportunities in our sport. As for this season, I've got big goals for our program and I'm excited to get started. I got to witness last year, as an assistant coach, as the team made great strides in terms of culture, and I look forward to continuing that progress. We also have a lot of talent returning, as well as some new faces joining us that could be an immediate impact for our team. I can't wait for season to get here and see how our team grows throughout the season!"
