160 Pounds: Latifah McBryde, Life (NAIA) vs Bella Mir, North Central (NCAA)
So you want an all-out brawl? Look no further than the McBryde vs Mir match at the 2025 NWCA All-Star Classic. Both will put technique behind fighting hard if they have to, making this a must-see match.Â
Mir is moving up from 145 pounds to make this happen, so, on paper at least, she is the underdog — a role that she embraces and relishes. McBryde pinned Mir at the 2022 Soldier Salute when Mir was competing for Iowa unattached, then Mir returned the favor one year later with a fall at the same tournament.Â
McBryde has stingy defense and can do the splits if someone gets to a single. She looks like a magician at times, getting out of positions where a takedown appears imminent. Then — POOF — she wiggles her way out and scores.Â
Mir is a grappling guru, competing in wrestling, jiu-jitsu, and mixed martial arts throughout the year. She finished fifth at the U23 World Championships and second behind Macey Kilty at the 2025 National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships. She is also a 2024 IBJJF Blue-Belt No-Gi World Champion with a 4-0 MMA record.Â
For perspective, Mir's last MMA fight was at 135 pounds, and she's competing at 160 for the All-Star Classic.Â
There's nothing like a rubber match — especially when each wrestler has a fall against each other. This will be a competitive, combative, and fun to watch.Â
