Coaches Poll - November 4, 2025

NCAA Division 1 Men

Minimal movement in first regular-season NWCA Division I Men’s Wrestling Coaches Poll

Stanford was the lone ranked team to fall on opening weekend

Manheim, Pennsylvania – With just a handful of dual meets in the opening weekend of the major college wrestling season, there was minimal movement in the first NWCA Division I Men's Wrestling Coaches Poll of the regular season, released on Tuesday.

There was a reshuffling of teams in the bottom half of the poll following Utah Valley's 19-12 upset over then-No. 14 Stanford over the weekend. The Cardinal slipped five spots to No. 19 this week.

There are 14 duals involving ranked teams this coming week, including two matchups between ranked opponents. Second-ranked Nebraska will host No. 23 Army West Point on Friday, while No. 19 Stanford heads to Stillwater to face fifth-ranked Oklahoma State.

No. 8 Lehigh and No. 14 Rutgers will both be in action at Journeymen Wrestling's WrangleMania at Liberty High School in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, on Saturday. Lehigh will face Duke and Virginia, while Rutgers will meet Navy.

Third-ranked Iowa hosts Bellarmine on Thursday, while No. 10 Virginia Tech hosts Bucknell on Friday.

In addition to the ranked teams competing at WrangleMania on Saturday, No. 7 NC State will host Northern Colorado, No. 15 Illinois hosts Rider, No. 20 Pittsburgh will travel to Buffalo, and No. 21 West Virginia will go on the road to face American.

On Sunday, fourth-ranked Ohio State will travel to Chattanooga, Northern Colorado continues its Carolina swing with a dual against No. 23 North Carolina, and VMI will face No. 11 Michigan in Ann Arbor in the first-ever wrestling matchup between the two schools.

Methodology: The NWCA Division I Men's Wrestling Coaches Poll is voted on by two coaches from each Division I wrestling conference. Each first-place vote is worth 25 points, 24 points for a second-place vote, 23 points for a third-place vote, and so on, down to one point for a 25th-place vote. The poll is based solely on dual meet results.
