Rose State College announced today the expansion of its athletics program with the return of men's wrestling and the addition of women's wrestling and men's and women's cross country, all set to begin competition in the fall of 2026.
The addition of these programs emphasizes Rose State's ongoing commitment to student engagement, wellness, and athletic excellence. The College continues to grow its presence within the NJCAA and Region II by offering more opportunities for student-athletes to compete at the collegiate level.
"This is an exciting step forward for Rose State College," said Travis Hurst, President of Rose State College. "Expanding our athletic programs not only enhances our campus life but also provides more students with the chance to pursue their academic and athletic goals close to home."
Women's wrestling is one of the fastest-growing collegiate sports in the nation, with the NJCAA and NAIA both recognizing the sport in recent years. The addition of women's wrestling and cross country aligns with Rose State's mission to provide inclusive opportunities that reflect student interest and regional growth in athletics.
"We're excited to introduce these new programs and bring back men's wrestling," said Coty Cooper, Executive Athletic Director at Rose State College. "Our goal is to create a well-rounded athletic department that supports both team and individual sports, while maintaining a strong focus on academics and character."
The new teams will join Rose State's existing NJCAA sports lineup, continuing the College's tradition of athletic success and community pride.
