Academy participants will hear from accomplished mentors whose experience spans coaching, leadership development, education, and media.

Barb Morgan

Barb Morgan

Mentor

Barb Morgan has spent 22 years coaching high school girls wrestling and built one of the most successful programs in the country. Her teams have earned four state championships, 12 top-20 finishes, and produced 45 state placers, six individual state champions, an NAIA national champion, and an NAIA All-American. She is a two-time Washington Coach of the Year, an NWCA Coach of the Year, a 2025 WSWCA Hall of Fame inductee, and a 2026 NWCA Hall of Fame inductee.

Mentor

Dave Crowell is one of the most accomplished high school wrestling coaches in the nation with more than 600 career wins and 13 PIAA team titles. A seven-time Pennsylvania Coach of the Year, he has won team state titles at three different schools and is widely respected for building championship-level programs year after year.

Bryan Hazard

Bryan Hazard

Mentor

Bryan Hazard is a Cadet National Champion, a National Wrestling Hall of Fame Lifetime Service to Wrestling recipient in the Virginia Chapter, and a coach whose teams have won 11 district, six regional, and four state titles. He is also a longtime broadcaster whose work has been featured at the NCAA Championships and with NBC, ESPN, USA Wrestling, and FloWrestling.

Mentor

Dr. Dennis Johnson is a retired college professor, author, coach, and NWCA Coaching Development Consultant. His work has focused on leadership development, coach education, and helping coaches build stronger programs and stronger student-athlete experiences.

How the Mentor Incentive Works

Help the NWCA recruit coaches to attend the convention and Scholastic Leadership Academy, and you may be able to cover a large portion of your trip.

  • You must be willing to attend both the NWCA Convention and the Scholastic Leadership Academy.
  • You must serve as a mentor during the Academy.
  • Recruit 5 coaches to attend and you will receive $500.
  • Recruit 10 coaches to attend and you will receive $1,000.
  • High school coaches can also receive a $100 discount by using code BMORE26 at checkout.
