Dakota Wesleyan University (S.D.) to Join KCAC in Women's Wrestling in 2023-24

WICHITA, Kan. — Dakota Wesleyan University (S.D.) will be joining the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) as a per-sport member in Women's Wrestling for the 2023-24 season, the conference office announced Thursday. The Tigers began competing in Women's Wrestling during the 2022-23 school year.

"Our student-athletes and staff are thrilled to be joining the KCAC to formally compete in 2023-24," John Lynch, the head coach for the Tigers, said. "The KCAC has a long standing tradition of excellence in culture, competition and academics, and we are eager to get started. On behalf of the program, we would like to thank the leadership of the KCAC for this opportunity."

"We couldn't be more excited about joining the KCAC as an affiliate member in women's wrestling," Jonathon Hart, Director of Athletics at Dakota Wesleyan University, said. "We look forward to our first year of duals and sanctioned events in a very competitive league. I want to thank Commissioner Dr. Scott Crawford, and the leadership of the KCAC for accepting our application and ultimately providing our student-athletes a pathway for NAIA championships."

The Tigers will be the eleventh team to compete in women's wrestling in the KCAC, joining full member institutions Avila University, Friends University, Ottawa University, the University of Saint Mary, and York University, as well as fellow associate members Doane University, Hastings College, Midland University, Morningside University and the University of Jamestown.

"I would like to thank the conference's Membership Committee as well as our Board of Presidents Executive Committee for taking positve action accepting the per-sport member application for Dakota Wesleyan University Women's Wrestling," said Dr. Scott Crawford, KCAC Commissioner.  "Dakota Wesleyan is a great addtion to KCAC Women's Wrestling for the upcoming 2023-24 academic year along with our other teams including first-year program Morningside University letting us know they also intend to compete in Women's Wrestling this year."
