2025 NWCA All-Star Classic

145 Pounds: Esther Kolawole, William Penn (NAIA) vs Reese Larramendy (Iowa)

Larramendy faces the biggest test of her college career when she squares off against Kolawole at the 2025 NWCA All-Star Classic.

The two haven't wrestled each other despite training 90 minutes from each other in Iowa. Kolawole made the 2024 Olympic team for Nigeria and most recently won bronze medals at the 2024 and 2025 U23 World Championships, and was in a medal match at the 2025 Senior Worlds.

Macey Kilty, Larramendy's former Iowa teammate and Iowa Women's Wrestling Club member, faced Kolawole at the 2024 U23 Worlds. The Nigerian star was up 3-1 with under a minute left when Kilty secured a fall from a single leg.

Likely, Larramendy hasn't faced anyone as strong as Kolawole, so she can't shoot herself out of the match. Larramendy is a goer, but she might be better served by being tactical, conserving energy, and, if possible, keeping it close.

Kolawole should do the opposite. Push the pace, get Larramendy to the zone, and use her strength.

There's pride on the line with this match.

State pride: William Penn vs Iowa

National pride: Nigeria vs USA

Interdivisional pride. NAIA vs NCAA

Don't let anyone tell you that the NAIA vs NCAA women's rivalry isn't real. It is, and coaches will keep score at the conclusion of the All-Star Classic.
