Drury Wrestling Names Walker Head Coach

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury University has selected Bryce Walker as its new wrestling head coach, Vice President and Director of Athletics Nyla Milleson announced Monday.

Walker brings a broad base of experience in developing and leading successful collegiate wrestling programs to Springfield. Most recently, he has spent three seasons as head assistant coach at fellow NCAA Division II institution UNC Pembroke, where he also competed as a student-athlete before embarking on his career path as a coach.

"We're excited to welcome Bryce to Drury," Milleson said. "He brings a fresh perspective and strong leadership to our wrestling community. He has shown the ability to lead and develop athletes, on and off the mat, and we believe he has the ability to take Drury wrestling to the next level.

Walker becomes the second head coach in Drury wrestling history, succeeding James Reynolds, who led the Panthers for a decade from their inaugural season in 2016.

"I'm excited to be joining Drury and building on the strong foundation that's already been laid within the wrestling program," Walker commented. "I'm thankful for the opportunity and appreciate Nyla Milleson for her trust and support."

Most recently, Walker contributed to a 39-17 dual meet record during his three-year stint at UNC Pembroke. He helped oversee the day-to-day operations and administration of the UNC Pembroke program, while also helping guide the Braves' individual skill development.

Walker coached 11 NCAA national qualifiers and three All-Americans, helping UNC Pembroke to a top-10 NCAA Division II ranking. In addition to his role at Pembroke, Walker served as lead technician at the North Carolina Pride Wrestling Club, where he coached numerous high school state champions, place-winners and All-Americans.

Walker earned two degrees during his time at UNC Pembroke, while helping lead the program as a three-time captain and national qualifier during his career as a student-athlete. He completed his bachelor's degree in kinesiology before earning a master's degree in sport administration in 2025.
