BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Northampton Executive Director of Athletics Troy Tucker has announced the hiring of Max Brignola as the next Head Coach of the Spartan Men's and Women's Wrestling programs.

"We are extremely excited to name Max as our next head coach," remarked Tucker, "his background and experience as a Division I wrestler at Lehigh under Coach Santoro will be a tremendous asset when talking to recruits.  I think Max is going to make a huge impact as we continue to build our program."

Brignola, a standout wrestler at Lehigh University, finished his senior campaign in 2026 with his third NCAA championship appearance, finishing one win shy of earning All-American honors.  Ranked in the top-10 most of the season, Brignola was the only Mountain Hawk to wrestle in all 18 dual meets, compiling a 14-4 record in duals and a 20-6 mark overall, while winning the EIWA championship at 165. 

A graduate of Rumson-Fair Haven High School in New Jersey, Brignola joined the Mountain Hawks in 2021-22, after a stellar high school career during which he was a four-time state qualifier and two-time place winner, finishing with a career record of 124-21.

Brignola, who graduated from Lehigh with a degree in Business and Economics, will continue his wrestling career with the Lehigh Valley Wrestling Regional Training Center.
