NWCA Names Clay Gable Chief Operations Officer

Manheim, PA - The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) today announced the appointment of Clay Gable as Chief Operations Officer. Gable joins the NWCA's leadership team following an 11-year career of service in the United States Air and Space Forces and most recently as IT manager for a construction company.

Gable wrestled at the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA), where he later served as a combatives instructor and operations manager within the Athletic Department. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Master's in Sports and Health Science.

During his military career, Gable led space operations supporting missile-warning satellites and the X-37B space plane, and most recently served as Assistant Director of Operations for a squadron focused on operational testing of command-and-control software. That combination of operational leadership, training, and systems expertise now supports his transition into the COO role at NWCA.

"Clay brings a rare combination of disciplined leadership, operational expertise, and a genuine passion for wrestling to this role," said Mike Moyer, Executive Director of the National Wrestling Coaches Association. "His background leading complex operations at the highest levels of the Space Force, paired with his experience as a wrestler and coach in our sport, makes him exactly the kind of leader who can help our organization operate more effectively as we grow."

In his new role, Gable will oversee day-to-day operations for the NWCA, working across the organization's programs and staff to advance its mission to strengthen the sport of wrestling at every level.

Gable officially joined the NWCA on July 6, 2026. He lives with his wife and their two young sons.
