Juniata College Tabbs Mangle to Lead Men's and Women's Programs

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata College Athletics Department is pleased to announce the appointment of the head coach of the men's and women's wrestling programs, Josh Mangle.

"Josh brings a strong knowledge of Division III wrestling in PA and the reputation of developing his student-athletes both on and off the mat," said Director of Athletics Jimmy McCumber. "His connections in the region will be crucial as he leads the revival of Juniata Wrestling- including recruiting our first-ever women's class."

Mangle comes to Juniata after most recently spending time as the assistant coach at Eastern University. During his time at Eastern, he assisted in their inaugural season that saw the women's program earn Coaching Staff of the Year, Wrestler of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors. The team received eight all-conference selections, with the men adding three all-conference selections of their own. Before his stop at Eastern, Mangle spent four seasons as an assistant coach at Alvernia University, which saw the men's team flourish (66-19). Prior to that, he spent 15 years with the Ursinus wrestling program. Mangle began his college coaching career at Delaware Valley University. Across his coaching tenure, he spent time as an interim head coach at Delaware Valley, twice at Ursinus and once at Alvernia. He went a combined 29-10 in the elevated role.

"I'm incredibly honored for the opportunity to become the Head Wrestling Coach at Juniata College," said Mangle. "I would like to thank President Troha, Athletic Director Jimmy McCumber, and the entire search committee for entrusting me to lead this program. I look forward to building strong relationships with our student-athletes, alumni, and the broader Juniata community."

Over the course of his coaching career, Mangle has guided student athletes to National Championships, Centennial Conference Championship places, and Middle Atlantic Conference Championship places. He has coached All-American honorees, all-conference selections and NCAA Scholar All-Americans. At each of his stops, the programs spent time ranked nationally in the top 10. In 2015, he became a USA Wrestling National Leadership Bronze Level certified coach. In 2013, he coached the Division III All-Star International Team and led them to victory in the Kalchev International Tournament. In 2013 and in 2015, he had a wrestler compete in the NWCA All-Star Classic.

Mangle graduated from Delaware Valley College in 1998 with a degree in Criminal Justice Administration. In 2013, he attended and graduated from the NWCA Coaching Leadership Academy. He will be joined by his wife Aileen.
