MANHEIM, PA - The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA), in partnership with the United States Marine Corps, is proud to announce the 2026 NWCA/USMC "Battles Won" National Prep Coaches of the Year.
Selected through voting within the National Prep wrestling community, this year's national honorees are:
- Boys National Head Coach of the Year: Jack Conroy, Greens Farms Academy (Connecticut)
- Boys National Assistant Coach of the Year: Matt Hicks, Archbishop Spalding (Maryland)
- Girls National Head Coach of the Year: Tom Trautman, Bishop Lynch (Texas)
- Girls National Assistant Coach of the Year: Katie Moore, Choate Rosemary Hall (Connecticut)
"These four coaches represent the commitment, leadership and service that make wrestling such a powerful part of the student-athlete experience," said
Mike Moyer, executive director of the NWCA. "Their influence extends well beyond competition. They develop young people, strengthen their school communities and help grow our sport. We are grateful to the United States Marine Corps for joining us in celebrating these deserving coaches."
The National Prep Wrestling Championships have served independent-school wrestling since 1935. The organization provides a competitive, culminating national championship experience for wrestlers from qualifying member schools while recognizing and promoting wrestlers, coaches, and schools that demonstrate leadership within the sport.
The NWCA/USMC "Battles Won" awards recognize coaches whose dedication, leadership, and program-building efforts have made a lasting difference for their student-athletes, schools, and communities.
